The Blue Notes 5 began singing in 2005 when they performed the National Anthem during the Police Academy graduation They received requests to perform after that, and to date have performed over 480 times.  The Blue Notes 5 are quick to acknowledge that only the Grace of God allowed them to accomplish this feat, as they have no formal music training.  The Blue Notes 5 perform at banquets, memorials, schools, and a variety of other venues in Huntsville and the surrounding area.  One note worthy performance came at the request of Attorney General Troy King.  The Blue Notes sang at the memorial service for former Governor Guy Hunt.  The City of Huntsville honored the Blue Notes 5 in 2006 by proclamation, recording them as a part of Huntsville's history.  Members of the Blue Notes 5 are Officers Eric Newby, Gerald Johnson, Charles Draper, Willie Jordan, Thomas Kelly, and Lt. Jeffrey Rice.
