Emergency Planning

What Should You Do in the Event of an Emergency?

  • Remain calm. Think before you act.
  • Be aware of your surroundings.
  • Have a Family Preparedness Plan.
  • Stay informed.
  • Shelter-in-place under most circumstances (stay indoors) is recommended.
  • Tune into local radio or TV stations for instructions and information.
  • If an evacuation is ordered, follow the instructions of local officials regarding evacuation routes and the location of shelters.
  • Do not leave your sheltered location or return to the evacuated area until it is deemed safe to do so by local officials.
