The Huntsville Police Department currently receives grant funding from various sources, including Federal and State agencies. Our department strives to obtain grant funding to provide resources that are not able to be funded from local general funding.

As of January 1, 2010, the Huntsville Police Department is currently operating from the following grants:
 

1) Name of Grant: FY 2006 Youth Gang and Crime Prevention Program

Granting Agency: Department of Justice- Bureau of Justice Assistance-$246,807

*This grant will provide for youth gang involvement and crime prevention within the Huntsville City Schools, as well as through the Serious Habitual Offender Comprehensive Action Program.

2) Name of Grant: FY 2007 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant-$183,882 for FY 2007

3) Name of Grant: FY 2008 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant-$69,315 for FY 2008 

4) Name of Grant: FY 2009 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant-$238,394 for FY 2009

5) Name of Grant: FY 2009 “Recovery Act” Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant-$1,015,283 for FY 2009 “Recovery Act”

Granting Agency: Department of Justice- Bureau of Justice Assistance

*These grants will be shared with the Madison County Commission. It will allow for the purchase of various computer and equipment upgrades. It will also assist with funding the Gang Intervention and Violence Education (GIVE) Program, conducted by the Madison County District Attorney Office.
