Juvenile Charged with Carrying Weapon and Threatening Teachers
Huntsville, Alabama (April 17, 2007) A 14-year-old male juvenile has been charged with Making a Terrorist Threat and Carrying a Concealed Weapon to school. Police spokesman Wendell Johnson said shortly before the bell rang, about 8:40 this morning, school security at the Seldon Center at 2820 Holmes Avenue spotted a student placing an object in the parking lot next to a vehicle. Security located a 380 Semi-Automatic pistol which was not loaded.
Huntsville Police quickly responded and questioned several students. Further investigation revealed that one of the juveniles had made previous threats against three teachers at the school which had been documented. The 14-year-old was taken into custody and booked into the Madison County Detention Center for juveniles. Johnson said school security and Huntsville Police responded quickly and appropriately and no students or employees were in serious danger.
