Huntsville Police Investigate Shooting Death

Huntsville, Alabama (April 30, 2007) Investigators with the Huntsville Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit say a Huntsville man was shot and killed when he broke into an apartment at 900 #D Julia Street. Police spokesman Wendell Johnson said residents woke up about 3:15 this morning when someone tried to break into the front door. The homeowners armed themselves, the door was kicked in and a masked man armed with a gun came into the apartment.

One resident shot and killed the offender who has been identified as 26-year-old Demarcus Williams. His home address is listed as 3406 Elizabeth Street.

Johnson said the death investigation continues and no arrests are expected at this time. This was Huntsville’s 7^th homicide for the year.

Meanwhile Police are still investigating the double homicide from Saturday morning. Two men were found shot to death about 3:30 in the morning inside a vehicle that had crashed into a house on Cobb Road. These were Huntsville’s 5^th and 6^th Homicide for the year.
