Huntsville Police Charge Man With Five Commercial Robberies/Theft

 

Huntsville, Alabama (May 2, 2007) Investigators with the Huntsville Police Department’s West Precinct have charged a Huntsville man with 5 recent robberies in the area. Police spokesman Wendell Johnson said Officer Gerald Johnson spotted a maroon van driven by a male matching the description of a suspect in 5 commercial robberies within the past 24 hours. Officer Johnson attempted to stop the vehicle, but the suspect drove off into an alley and fled on foot. Officer Johnson caught the suspect and arrested him. After questioning, 30-year-old Derek Gregory Clay was charged with in the following cases;

 

Shell Food Mart - 6150 University Drive (Robbery 1^st Degree)

Ed’s Discount - 3906 Triana Blvd (Robbery 1^st Degree)

Shell Food Mart – 3315 Governor’s Drive (Robbery 3^rd Degree)

Conoco – 2100 Drave Avenue (Robbery 3^rd Degree)

Tobacco Express – Bob Wallace and Triana (Theft)

 

He was booked into the Madison County Metro jail, no bond has been set as of Wednesday morning.
