Huntsville Police Enforce “Hot Spot” Locations with Grant
Huntsville, Alabama (February 13, 2008) The Huntsville Police Department’s Special Operations Division has increased enforcement of traffic laws at “Hot Spot” locations around the city. A state funded grant will allow Officers to work overtime from February 13, 2008 – March 31, 2008. Lt. Mark McMurray with the Traffic Services and DUI Task Force said Police Officers will target locations that have been selected by the Northeast Alabama Traffic Safety Office (NATSO) as some of the most hazardous for motorists. McMurray added, “Motorists can expect high visibility from Patrol Officers at many intersections and vicinity in an effort to save lives, reduce traffic related injuries and crashes; and ensure drivers obey all traffic laws. They will also check for valid drivers’ license, proof of insurance, vehicle registration and cite individuals not wearing seat belts.” Traffic Enforcement will also include DUI checkpoints at the following;
Old Madison Pike between Slaughter Road and Diamond Drive.
Drake Avenue and Penny Street.
Jordan Lane and Highway 53 at Sparkman.
