Huntsville Police Charge Man In Overnight Homicide

 

Huntsville, Alabama (June 7, 2008) At 10:35 Friday night Police received a call of “shots fire” at 2839 Greenside Drive. Public Safety Spokesman Wendell Johnson said dispatchers sent Police Officers to the scene and discovered Erik Lashun Rodgers of Huntsville had been shot. Darren Dwayne Jones, age 42 of Huntsville was arrested at the scene and taken into custody and initially charged with Assault 1st degree. The ongoing investigation by the Major Crimes Unit continued into the early morning, but Rodgers died at a local hospital. Johnson said Jones who was booked into the Madison County Metro Jail is expected to be charged with Murder. Bond has not been set and Jones remains in the Metro Jail. Rodgers, the victim was 26 years old.
