Huntsville Police Captain Graduates from FBI National Academy
Huntsville, Alabama (June 19, 2008) A 27-year-veteran with the Huntsville Police Department recently graduated from the 233rd Session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. Captain Rodney Baker, Special Operations Division Commander joined 269 other law enforcement officers from 48 states, including the District of Columbia, Guam and 29 international countries. Internationally known for its academic excellence, the National Academy Program offers 10 weeks of advanced investigative, management, and fitness training for selected officers having proven records as professionals within their agencies. Since 1972, National Academy students have been able to earn undergraduate and graduate credits from the University of Virginia.
Captain Baker supervises and commands the daily operations of the Special Operations Division which includes 258 employees. His present duties include command of the following units: Traffic Services Unit; DUI Task Force; SWAT Team; STAC Team (narcotics); Bomb Squad; WMD/JTTF; Bomb/Arson; School Resource Officers; K-9 Unit; Mobile Field Force; Crises Negotiation Response Team, Public Safety Aide Unit; Honor Guard; Bike Squad; Special Events and Part-time Duty Assignments. Captain Baker holds a B.S. Degree in Criminal Justice/Public Safety Administration.
