Veteranís Day Parade 2009 Ė Downtown Huntsville
 

 

Huntsville, Alabama (November 6, 2009) Huntsvilleís annual Celebration of Veteranís Day will be on Wednesday November 11, 2009. The roads in downtown Huntsville will be closed for this parade beginning at 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM. Citizens traveling in the downtown area on Wednesday should expect two hours of slow moving detours in the area and drive with extreme caution due to the large amount of children and pedestrians crossing the roads to view the parade. The Huntsville Police Department will be posting officers at all affected intersections to keep traffic flowing and business open in the area.

 

The parade will assemble and begin in parking Lot K at Clinton and Woodson Avenue and travel east on Clinton Avenue, turn right/south on Monroe Street, turn left/east on William Avenue, turn left/north on Lincoln Street, continue on to Monroe Street traveling west then south, turn right/west on Holmes Avenue disbanding between Monroe Street and Pollard Street. Once parade passes the intersection of Monroe Street at Jefferson Street, Monroe Street between Washington Street and Jefferson Street will be closed for a special flag retirement ceremony to be held in the street directly in front of the Veteranís Memorial Park.
