Police Shoot Armed Subject
Huntsville, Alabama
(December 1, 2009) An investigation
is underway as a result of an armed subject who was shot and killed by two
Huntsville Police Officers. Huntsville Police responded to a domestic call at 902-B Webster Avenue at
approximately 5:15 p.m. Monday evening in which the caller advised that her son
was threatening the family with a knife. As the officers entered the residence
they encountered a subject armed with two knives. The officers repeatedly tried
to get the subject to put down the knives; he refused and aggressively advanced
on the officers. As a result, the offender was shot and killed by two Huntsville
Police Officers. The subject has been identified as Robert Daniel Webb, 24
years-of-age, of Huntsville.
The case is
being investigated by the Department’s Major Crimes Unit and the Internal
Affairs Division. Once the investigation is completed, Chief Henry Reyes has
ordered an Incident Review Board to review the facts and determine if the
Officers actions were within departmental policy. The board includes a
Huntsville Police Captain, Lieutenant, and Sergeant. Also present during the
Incident Review Board will be representatives from the City Attorney’s Office,
and the Madison County District Attorney’s Office. The two officers have been
placed in an administrative status pending the outcome of the Incident Review
Board, which is a standard departmental policy for police involved shootings.
