Huntsville Police Prepare for Christmas Parade

 

Huntsville, Alabama (December 2, 2009) The annual Christmas Parade will take place from 12:00 to 2:00 pm on Saturday December 5, 2009.  There will be several road closures and detours in downtown Huntsville.  Drivers should expect delays and use extreme caution due to the large number of children anticipated in the area.  All traffic laws will be strictly enforced.

  

The Christmas Parade will stage and start from Lot "K" at the intersection of Clinton and Woodson, enter Clinton Avenue eastbound, turn left on Monroe Street continue onto Lincoln Street, turn right onto Holmes Avenue, turn left on Jefferson Street, turn left on Williams Street, turn right on Adams Street and disband at Townsend Avenue.

 

The westbound lanes of Clinton Avenue from Church Street and the northbound lanes of Monroe Street from Clinton Avenue will be closed at 11:00 am for equipment set up.  All other roads will remain open downtown until shortly before the parade begins at 12:00 noon.  Roadways will be closed in stages as the parade nears the intersections. Access to businesses downtown will be kept open with minor delays expected.
