Huntsville Police Announce Downtown Road Closures for Whistle Stop Festival

 

Huntsville, Alabama (April 28, 2009)In preparations for the annual Whistle Stop Bar B Que Outdoor Festival, the Huntsville Police Department will be closing several streets around the Historic Huntsville Depot in Downtown Huntsville. The following road closing and opening schedule will be followed for the Whistle Stop Festival to be held on May 1st and 2nd 2009.

 

Beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday April 30, 2009:

The outside northbound lane of Church Street starting at the railroad tracks to 100 feet south of Monroe Street will be closed.  Monroe Street between Church Street and Jefferson Street,  Spragins Street between Monroe Street and Holmes Avenue will be closed for the event.  The right turn lane of Jefferson Street from the eastbound I-565 exit ramp to Monroe Street is also included.  All streets will be re-opened by 12:00 p.m. on Sunday May 3, 2009.

 

The Whistle Stop Festival will be open to the public on Friday May 1 from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. and on Saturday May 2, from 4 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

 

Huntsville Police encourage motorists to use caution when driving around downtown these two evenings due to pedestrian traffic. Additionally, ensure to use parking lots designated for use and well lit while securing all valuable items out of plain sight in your locked vehicles.
