Findings of Incident Review Board
Huntsville, Alabama (August 21, 2009) On Thursday, August 20, 2009 an Incident Review Board convened to examine evidence and hear testimony related to a shooting incident that occurred on June 27, 2009, at 1914 Jordan Lane where two Huntsville Police Officers fired their weapons. Police Spokesman Sergeant Mark Roberts said the Board consisted of Captain Kinney Bryant, Lieutenant Darryl Lawson, and Sergeant Jerry King. Representatives from the City Attorney’s Office and the Madison County District Attorney’s Office were also present. After careful review of the evidence, the Board concluded that the Officers actions were not in accordance with Departmental policies. Chief Henry Reyes concurred with the Board’s findings and has initiated an Administrative Review by the Huntsville Police Department. Chief Reyes also forwarded the findings of the Incident Review Board to the Madison County District Attorneys Office for their review.
Roberts said 25-year-old Danny Wright Jr. was charged with Attempted Murder. Officers were attempting to check two subjects in the parking lot of the Green Room, a local nightspot, after observing narcotics inside the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle sped off with an officer still hanging on to the vehicle. Shots were fired by the officers, a pursuit ensued which resulted in a wreck and the subsequent apprehension of Danny Wright Jr. A second subject is still being sought at this time.
