Huntsville Police Officer Arrested
 

Huntsville, Alabama (September 11, 2009) Huntsville Police Officer Jimmy Shane Hitt has been arrested and charged with 3 Counts of Obtaining Drugs by Fraud  and 1 Count of Attempted Possession of a Controlled Substance.  He was booked in to the Madison County Metro Jail at 6:30 p.m. on September 10, 2009.  Hitt, 35 years of age, has been with the Huntsville Police Department for 7 years. 

The arrest was the result of an internal investigation conducted by the Huntsville-Madison County Strategic Drug Team (STAC) and the Huntsville Police Department Major Crimes Unit.  Hitt has been suspended from active duty and placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the criminal and administrative charges.  Hitt has been released on a $10,000 bond.
