Police Announce Fourth of July Festivities
Huntsville, Alabama (July 1, 2010):
The Huntsville Police Department announces several locations where large
festivities have been scheduled to take place this weekend and expect heavy
turnout and traffic congestion in all of these areas.
Saturday July 3rd, 2010
From 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM there will be fireworks at Joe Davis Stadium. South Memorial Parkway to Airport should expect traffic congestion during the event.
Sunday July 4th , 2010
Bridge Street Town Center on Old Madison Pike and Research Park Boulevard from 5:00 PM until 10:00 PM. The majority of the traffic congestion will take place at the conclusion of the fireworks show; however there will be officers on hand throughout the event to monitor and work the traffic.
DUI Checkpoints will be established at several
locations throughout the city for the 4th of July weekend. HPD’s DUI Task Force
will be aggressively enforcing all State DUI laws over this weekend.
Huntsville Police Department warns drivers to be very attentive and patient of
slow moving, and standing traffic in and around these areas.
Drivers should be aware of pedestrians and children in these congested areas.
Officers will be strictly enforcing laws pertaining to driving around barricades or cones.
No drivers will be permitted to stop or park on roadways, or highway shoulders or medians to view fireworks displays.
Officers will be patrolling the area for these violations and any DUI violations.
Fireworks will begin at 9 PM and conclude at 9:30 PM
