  Alabama A&M Homecoming Parade - Downtown Huntsville
 

Huntsville, Alabama (October 1, 2010) Huntsville’s annual celebration of Alabama A&M University Homecoming Parade will be held on Saturday October 2, 2010. The roads in downtown Huntsville will be closed for this parade beginning at 09:00 AM to 11:30 AM. Citizens traveling in the downtown area on Saturday morning should expect detours and traffic delays as well as large amounts of pedestrian traffic. The Huntsville Police Department will be posting officers throughout the affected intersections to keep business traffic flowing and open in the area.

 

Parade Route:

 

The parade will gather in Lot K on Clinton Avenue and exit the parking lot to travel north on Woodson Street, turn right to travel east on Holmes Avenue, turn left to travel north then east on Monroe Street, turn right to travel south on Washington Street, turn right to travel west on Cinton Avenue and turn right to enter Lot K to end the parade. The following businesses will remain open during the parade using these directions:

Lewter Hardware access from Five Points on Holmes Avenue, north on Lincoln Street to store at Monroe Street at Washington Street.  Exit south on Lincoln Street and east on Holmes Avenue.

 

Halsey Grocery access from Five Points on Holmes Avenue, north on Jefferson Street (wrong way) and return back south on Jefferson Street, west on Holmes Avenue and south on Church Street.

 

Greyhound Bus station access north on Church Street, west on Holmes Avenue and reverse route to exit. 0900 and 1010 arrivals. Leave 10 to 15 minutes later.
