Huntsville Police Announce Downtown
Road Closures
For WhistleStop Festival 2012
Huntsville, Alabama (May 1, 2012)
In preparations for the annual WhistleStop Festival & Rocket City BBQ, the
Huntsville Police Department will be closing several streets around the Historic
Huntsville Depot in Downtown Huntsville. The following road closing and opening
schedule will be followed for the WhistleStop Festival to be held on May 4th
and May 5th.
Thursday May 3, 2012 street closings:
The merge and right turn lanes of Jefferson Street between the eastbound I-565 exit ramp and Monroe Street will be closed at 6:30 am. The following streets will be closed beginning at 6:00 a.m.; the outside (right hand) northbound lane of Church Street from 100 feet south of Monroe Street to the railroad tracks, Monroe Street between Church Street and Jefferson Street, and Spragins Street between Monroe Street and Holmes Avenue.
Sunday, May 6, 2012:
All of the listed streets will be re-opened by 12:00 p.m.
The WhistleStop Festival will be open to the public on Friday May 4th from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. and on Saturday May 5th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
The Huntsville Police Department encourages motorists to use caution when driving in the area during the festival due to heavy pedestrian traffic. Additionally, use well lit parking lots when available and secure all valuable items out of plain sight in your locked vehicles prior to arriving at the parking lot.
