Huntsville, Alabama (December 7, 2012) On December 10, 2012, Officer Shane Killingsworth will be presented the Law Enforcement Commendation Medal by the Sons of the American Revolution at 11 a.m. in the auditorium of the Huntsville Madison County Library located at 915 Monroe Street.

On September 24, 2012, while on patrol, Officer Shane Killingsworth was dispatched to locate a stolen vehicle.  After relentless efforts the stolen vehicle was located and the suspect was arrested.  Officer Killingworth’s efforts lead to the suspect being charged with trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, receiving stolen property and obscuring the identity of a vehicle.  The bond for the suspect was placed at $1.575 million.  The street value of the cocaine was determined to be $300,000.   There were 2 stolen vehicles recovered, which included a BMW 750, and a Dodge Ram Bighorn truck that exceeded $150,000 in value.

Officer Killingworth’s actions were one of the largest seizures by uniform officers.  Seizures of this magnitude are of critical importance to the Huntsville Police Department and to the citizens of Huntsville.

Officer Killingsworth has been with the Huntsville Police Department since November 1998.  For five years he was assigned to the Strategic Counter Drug Team.  He also served the City of Madison for two years and served in the United States Marine Corps as a Military Policeman.  He has received over twenty commendations and was named Optimist Club Officer of the Year for 2006.
