Labor Day DUI Enforcement

Huntsville, Alabama (August 29, 2013) The Huntsville Police Department announced today it will join other police departments throughout the country in support of the 2013 Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over crackdown on impaired driving. The campaign is organized by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and regionally administered by the North Alabama Traffic Safety Office (NATSO). This year’s campaign began August 17th and continues through September 2nd, 2013; through the Labor Day Holiday Weekend.

The Huntsville Police Department’s D.U.I. Task Force supervisor, Sergeant Michael Johnson states, “The mission of the Department’s D.U.I. Task Force is to enforce the law and to educate the public on the dangers of drinking and driving.”  The D.U.I. Task Force has consistently ranked as the number one D.U.I. enforcement squad in Alabama over the past fourteen years.

The D.U.I. Task Force will set up high visibility saturation patrols throughout the city of Huntsville. Members of the Special Operations Division along with Uniformed Patrol Officers from each precinct will also participate by maintaining traffic enforcement activities at various NATSO “HOT SPOT” locations.

Locations will include but not be limited to roadways such as Drake Avenue, Jordan Lane, University Drive, Bob Wallace Avenue, Bailey Cove Road, Andrew Jackson Way, Sparkman Drive, Pulaski Pike and Cecil Ashburn Drive.
