Burglary Suspects Arrested
(September 17, 2013)
The Huntsville Police Department’s Burglary Task
Force has actively been investigating a string of residential burglaries
throughout the city and in Madison County. The offenders were targeting
subdivisions still under construction, mainly in the southwest and northwest
areas of the city. The offenders would enter the homes that were close to
completion and take the new appliances.
Investigators were able to
develop a suspect in the case, and after a short stakeout, they were able to
take the suspect into custody at a used appliance store on Oakwood Avenue.
Investigators arrested Robert Dale Jarvis, 46 year old W/M, on September 11,
2013, and charged him with five counts of Burglary 3rd Degree.
Investigators believe that Jarvis is responsible for over fifty burglaries in
the past year.
The investigation also led to the arrest of a
father and son, who own used appliance stores on Oakwood Avenue and Pratt
Avenue. Ernest Clayton Sharp, 81 year old W/M, and Earnest Roger Sharp, 58 year
old W/M, were both arrested on September 16, 2013, and charged with one count
each of Buying/Receiving Stolen Property 3rd Degree. Investigators
were able to recover 23 ranges, 5 refrigerators, 1 dishwasher, 1 microwave and a
garbage disposal. The investigation is ongoing.
All 3 suspects were booked into the Madison County Metro Jail yesterday. Mr. Jarvis’ bond was set at $225,900 and Mr. Ernest and Mr. Earnest Sharp’s bond were set at $30,000.
