Investigators Arrest Second Murder Suspect
Huntsville, Alabama (February 03, 2014) The Huntsville Police Department made a second capital murder arrest this weekend in the Jan. 17 shooting death of Timothy Smith. Investigators with HPD’s Major Crimes Unit, working together with United States Marshals Task Force Huntsville and United States Marshal Task Force Birmingham, arrested 27 y/o, b/m, Anthony Deandre Robinson, of Huntsville. Robinson was arrested in Birmingham and transported back to the Madison County Metro Jail. He has been charged with two counts of Capital Murder; Capital Murder during a Burglary and Capital Murder committed from outside a dwelling.
Robinson is the second person arrested in connection with Smith’s shooting death in an apartment in the 4300 block of Knight Road. Immediately after the crime, police arrested 27 y/o Anthony Ray Battle and charged him with two counts of Capital Murder. Police Chief Lewis Morris says Robinson’s arrest brings all the suspected offenders into custody.
“I am proud of the quick arrest investigators made after the crime, and I am proud of the cooperation between our Major Crimes Unit, the U.S. Marshals Task Forces in Huntsville and Birmingham for their outstanding work in bringing the second suspect into custody,” said Chief Morris. “The teamwork between these investigators reinforces that we will expend all efforts to solve these homicides and bring those responsible to justice.”
Both Robinson and Battle are currently being held in the Madison County Metro Jail without bond.
