Alleged Crime Victims Charged With Filing False Police Report
Huntsville, Alabama (May 19, 2006) On May 9, 2006, 57-year-old Steven Anthony Gebert and 51-year-old Dallas Earl Crowell, Jr. were arrested and charged with Filing a False Police Report, a misdemeanor. Police spokesman Wendell Johnson said Gebert told Huntsville Police that 23-year-old David Hindman allegedly pulled a gun out and robbed him of a large amount of money on March 9th. Crowell made the same statement as a witness. Based on their testimony, a warrant was issued on April 25th by Madison County for Hindman’s arrest. During the first part of May, Hindman was featured on Crimestoppers on WAFF – 48 and in the Huntsville Times.
Johnson said further investigation revealed that both men lied to Huntsville Police. Investigators then sought warrants and arrested both Gebert and Crowell and booked them into the Madison County Metro Jail. Johnson said the warrant on Hindman has been recalled by the Madison County District Attorney’s office and he is no longer wanted for robbery.
